Refund Policy and Cancellation of the British School of Driving

The British School of Driving offers refunds and cancellations under specific conditions, such as the inability to book tests or connect with an instructor within specified timeframes. Deposits are generally non-refundable, and cancellations require 24 hours’ notice. Issues with instructors should be resolved directly. Contact details provided for complaints.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please contact your instructor directly rather than the British School of Driving.
Part A – You must provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a lesson. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, the full fee will be charged. All cancellations must be arranged directly between you and your instructor/tutor, as the British School of Driving cannot relay cancellation messages.
Part B – Cancellations should be made via phone call or SMS to your instructor to easily schedule the next appointment.
Part C – If your instructor cancels a lesson due to illness, a mechanical issue, or an unforeseen event beyond their control, an alternative time will be offered either on the same day or on another mutually suitable date within the same week. If no suitable time can be arranged within that week, a lesson will be scheduled for the following week.
Part D – Your instructor is not responsible for lessons cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
Part E – If you fail to meet the instructor at the designated pick-up location or do not show up for the lesson, the instructor will wait for 20 minutes before leaving. The lesson will then be considered cancelled, and you will be charged the full fee.

Refunds & Cancellations

If your course does not proceed as planned and you wish to cancel, you may be eligible for a refund under the following conditions:
  1. We are unable to schedule a theory test within 30 days of booking your course and submitting your details.
  2. We are unable to arrange a practical test within our course completion estimate within 30 days of receiving your details. If a theory test is required, the 30 days will begin once you pass the theory test.
  3. We are unable to connect you with a Driving Instructor within 48 days of starting your course. The connection process will begin once your driving test is fast-tracked and you confirm its suitability.
  4. You may cancel your booking up to 14 days after submitting your form to the British School of Driving online or by phone.
  5. Unless you instruct the British School of Driving to commence working on your booking immediately, you have the right to cancel within 14 days.
  6. Upon receipt of your fully completed Details Form, if the British School of Driving is unable to arrange a suitable practical driving test within 30 days.
  7. If you are a repeat customer, you waive your right to the 14-day cancellation period.
  8. All online deposits are non-refundable, as work to allocate a driving instructor and book relevant tests begins upon booking.
  9. The deposit becomes non-refundable once an instructor is allocated after booking the course. This is because driving instructors are self-employed, and cancelling the course deprives them of income for that reserved week.
  10. All fees are non-refundable once a suitable driving instructor has been assigned to your course.
  11. A lesson package booked with the British School of Driving is non-refundable and non-transferable. However, unused lessons may be used for additional tuition at the instructor’s discretion.
  12. To receive a refund for your test fee, you must notify us at least 10 clear working days in advance.
  13. Contracts for Crash Courses, Intensive Courses, and Fast Courses are between pupils and driving instructors. The British School of Driving is not responsible for any compensation claims from pupils, nor can we be held liable for any traffic violations by either the pupil or the instructor. Any disputes or claims must be resolved with the instructor first.
  14. Payment must be made at the time of purchase to secure your course placement. The British School of Driving will contact you if the outstanding course fees are not paid in full upon booking.
